Maja & Hjördis

Improved stomach health & shiny fur

Hjördis and Maja’s owner, Jenny, reached out to share how her cats have achieved amazing health with Petgood – Hjördis is now free from digestive issues and has a shiny coat, while Maja has been healthy and thriving ever since she started eating the food as a kitten.

Hi Petgood,

A heartfelt thank you for your amazing cat food!

My beloved cat Hjördis, whom I adopted from Djurens Chans when she was three years old, had for many years (occasionally) tiny traces of blood in her stool, no matter what food she ate. It wasn’t alarming, but of course, it didn’t feel right either. When I started giving her Petgood about three years ago, it stopped completely, and she hasn’t had blood in her stool a single time since (!). She also hasn’t had diarrhea or any other stomach issues. Despite now being a 12-year-old senior, her coat is shiny and silky, and she almost never throws up hairballs (something my carpets are very grateful for…).

My other darling, Maja, I adopted from Stockholms Katthem two years ago. She’s been eating Petgood’s cat food (kitten food at first, then adult food) since she came to me at three months old and is the picture of health. She’s never had any stomach problems, her coat is beautiful (though it can’t quite compete with Hjördis’…), and she doesn’t throw up hairballs worth mentioning either.

Once again, a warm and heartfelt THANK YOU for your food!

Best regards,

Jenny, Hjördis, and Maja

Psst, did you know that our cat food has been examined in a scientific study, which showed an increase in beneficial gut bacteria?

This might be part of the reason why Maja & Hjördis’ stomachs have been so healthy on our cat food. Read more about this study and other exciting research below!

Study on Petgood Adult Cat confirms supported health

A new study, based on Petgood's Adult Cat food, has evaluated health and nutrition parameters such as palatability, digestibility and gut micriobiota. Overall, this study showed that our dry food is readily accepted by cats, yields optimal faecal consistency, and had suitable nutrient digestibilities with new leads for impact on feline gut health.

The key study findings for our insect-based cat food are:

100% of cats readily accepting the feed

plus

The diet had very high palatability, where all cats that participated liked the food and continued eating it throughout the study - they liked it so much they even continued after the study was finished!

High nutrient digestibility

plus

The Petgood diet had a high overall nutrient digestibility and a protein digestibility at over 85%. This is in line with values for premium cat food made from traditional protein sources.

This means that the cats could easily digest the food, and absorb the nutrients in their bodies.

Increases in beneficial gut bacteria

plus

The diet stimulated gut microbiota activity, leading to increases in gut bacteria considered beneficial, and decreases in gut bacteria linked to digestive problems.

Increase was seen in species such as Bifidobacterium and Megamonas, considered beneficial for gut health. Significant reduction in bacteria of the Clostridium-species was also noted, associated to digestive issues and negative for gut health.
